How to draw a rose

cartoon picture of a beeAll we need is a simple step by step cartoon picture of a bee, add to that our step by step rose from our previous post: How to draw a simple rose and …

Wouldn’t that resemble extremely well the rose drawing from the below cartoon from CartoonStock?

cartoon honey bees

Cartoon picture of a bee

Drawing the above honey bee on the right top was actually more difficult than drawing the rose of our previous post: the cartoonist added an extra leave, bended the stem of the rose in an "s" shape and used a variety with even less thorns than we did.

Also the honey bees in the above cartoon are much simpler looking than what I have been drawing.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a cartoonist, but…

…when I saw my classmates drawing people and animals, I was quite inhibited to make a career out of drawing:

  • I loved the outdoors and smelling the roses, but I hardly picked up a pencil to draw one
  • also there was no real drawing education in school
  • the headmasters didn’t do much of a better job and were amazingly surpassed by the kids that really could draw.

Now if I would have had money those days, I would have bought me some drawing books. But not did I lack drawing skills, I also lacked money… no honey, no bees, no nothing. And they don’t teach you how to draw a rose in university either :-)

So I put my wish in the drawer until I found the rose drawing of the previous post and I could draw it from my first try. Don’t you love the Internet!

Just admit: the bee cartoon above surprisingly doesn’t need an humongous amount of drawing skills. The most challenging thing is finding something funny, seems how you draw it afterwards is the easy part.

Ok, I need to write less posts, draw more rose cartoons and find an easy cartoon bee to add to it :-)

Please leave a comment if you have an easy step by step cartoon picture of a bee.

Really, I only had to try once and I already have a beautiful rose: this is the easiest step by step rose drawing ever!

Rose flowers

My favorite flowers are roses, I have a lot of pictures of roses, but when it comes to color draw a rose, I am as good as kids draw.

I have no time to take up draw lessons, all I want is to be able to draw a simple rose without looking like a 3 year old :-) That’s why I started this website explaining step by step how to draw roses.

My first rose drawing was quite a success I might say, which only shows that my sketch draw is easy to reproduce by anybody!

How to draw roses

Answering this question will be the scope of this rose drawing site.

I will add a lot of step by step rose drawings in future, but I want to start with this cartoon rose which gave me a successful rose right from the first start.

How to draw a simple rose step by step

Step by step rose drawing

  1. draw a balloon with a "saint" sign above it
  2. add 2 leaves on the stem of the rose
    1. combine the "saint sign" and the balloon to a vase
    2. right from the vase draw an "s" and
    3. left from the vase: mirror what you did on the right side of your future rose
  3. add another mirrored s to the left and
    1. do the same on the right, don’t draw what you can’t see behind the flower
    2. "cut" the 2 rose leaves in half
    3. the top part of the rose flower is the most challenging for me: you need to make the illusion as if it’s a piece of paper on top that you rolled together
  4. the finishing touch of this rose drawing:
    1. add thorns to the rose stem,
    2. make saw incision in the leaves and
    3. colour the rose to hide your sketch drawings
